Drama Day 1

Today in class we got our groups for our Drama Performance task. I was in a group with seven with some of my other classmates. The people I am with, in this task are; Henry Hone, Spencer LeWarne, Nathan Tahan, Rupert Foley, Bill Nichol and Marlon Caley. We started to develop our stories that we will base our performance off of. the start of the story we have come up with is Isabella is worried that Flavio doesn’t love her as much as she loves him so she brews a love potion to give to him but she leaves it out on the table when she goes out. Colombina (maid/Servant) sees this and picks it up and give it to one of the other masters. The master that drinks the potion then falls in love with Isabella and Flavio and this master then have some kind of competition or race to decide who gets Isabella. The winner is undecided but I assume it will be Flavio and then the love potion will wear off and it will all end happily ever after. In this sequence, I am playing Arlechinno who provides comic relief for the audience and can completely foil his master’s plans.

Drama Day 9

In this entry I will be evaluating myself and my groups performance. The poeple in my group were Henry Hone, Spencer LeWarne, Marlon Cayley, Nathan Tahan and Rupert Foley. I think our prologe could have been better because it was not completly in sync and some people did not know all of the words. I think that we mostly moved as a group and our prologe kind of rymed but it gave a good overveiw of the play.

Origionally I thought that the gap between our prologe and the first scene was short but when i went back and watched the video it was longer than I thought it was still not too long but it could have been shorter. I think the first two scenes were good exept for the use of space. Rupert would tend to make the scenes that he is in, put up to USL. At times I tried to move the direction of the scene more out to the audience but it didnt always work. Overall I think that the flow of the peice and how it worked was pretty good. The music worked this time as well which was very good. In conclution I think that while it had its faults the play was quite good and was up to time with the expectation.

Drama Day 8

In this entry I will be evaluating another groups work. The group I will be evaluating is group 2 which constis of Zac Law, Lachie Watson, Benji LaForest, Angus Skidmore and Louis Howard. The Greek chorus at the start was good becuase they introduced every character and they were all in sync with their voices. After the chorus I felt like there was an awkward silence when everyone was getting their costumes and masks on. I felt that the play itself was a bit too short and the story line kind of met a dead end at the end of the play. I felt that the idea of the swordfight could have been taken further than it was in group 2’s performance. Overall I think it was a good quality play but it could have incorparated a few more elements of drama for example dramatic meaning. This could help develop the idea further and end in a lenthier play.

Drama Day 5

Today we had to do our performance but it did not go completly as planned for a varity of reasons. The first reason was that not many people knew the prologe. another thing was the fact that there was very bad reception in the drama studio so the music came in at the wrong times becuase it would lag. This made it difficult to concentrate and it was quite stressful.

Drama Day 4

In this lesson we mainly worked on our plays and finlising the script. the script was harder than expected becuase everyone wrote their different parts of the script so everyone had a slightly different idea of the story. this made it quite confusing in rehersals so Henry has decided to write his own version of the script so it all makes sense.

Drama Day 3

Today in drama class we started to rehearse out scripts and develop some scenes. We also watched a play from a group that did it last year and then we annalysed it and decided what we wanted to put in our own play. It was hard to get started becuase my group can get distracted and unmotivated but when we got going it was much eaisier and it seemed to flow. One annoying thing was that not every one did their scripts so it was a little disjointed.

Drama Day 2

I class today we started to write our scripts for our plays. It was hard becuase Henry and I were on chior camp for the lessons where we disscused our storyline so that made it more difficult to write may part of the scrip. another thing was becuase that each person is writing a portion of the script they all had a slightly different veiw of the storyline. This makes it hard to line up the scenes perfectly so they run in conjunction with each other.
